Assemblage: 100% Roussanne, harvested from Lanie's block on October 1, 2024

Winemaker Notes: Roussanne is a varietal not often found on its own. The grape is named after the French word roux (russet) for the its distinctive color at ripeness and is typically used throughout the world in Rhone-style white blends. Even in our own wines we typically blend it with Viognier. This year we had the good fortune of having just enough to bottle a little on its own. We are very excited to share this special wine. Our vineyard provides perfect ripening conditions that result in a uniquely expressive wine with a complex fruit profile and a wide array of subtle herbal and nutty flavors. You'll search a long time to find a wine quite so intriguing and enjoyable. The label features desert globe mallow, which displays orange-colored flowers and blooms locally each spring - just as this wine is released.

Vintage Notes: The headline of the 2024 growing season in Washington was a significant freeze event in January that devastated many vineyards. Fortunately, Dineen Vineyards' vines escaped damage thanks to our elevation and south-facing slope, which allowed the cold air to drain and protected the vines. After pruning, a cool spring delayed bud break and bloom. Our Summer weather was largely unremarkable aside from a heat spike in July, which pushed Growing Degree Days (GDD) back to normal and allowed on time ripening (véraison). Milder temperatures through September and October provided for extended hang time, fostering slow and balanced ripening.
