Winemaking Notes

Cabernet Sauvignon is the most planted wine grape variety in the world — and the most planted variety in Washington State. There’s a reason for that. At its best, Cabernet Sauvignon is both powerful and nuanced, capable of expressing herbal and floral notes alongside dark fruit depth. We especially love Cabernet from our site and region because it reflects that full spectrum so beautifully.

Cabernet Sauvignon absolutely thrives in the unique combination of soil and climate we have on our estate vineyard We’ve been growing Cab since 2001, and it just keeps getting better.

For the warmer growing conditions of 2023, we found the best of our Cabernet came from our Catherine’s block (61%). Catherine’s is our oldest planting and always provides significant weight and structure to our wines In this vintage, it also added an array of dark fruit aromatics and flavors.

We combined this with 33% of Bridget’s block to add even more richness to the blend Bridget’s is situated at a perfect slightly southwest aspect to ripen Cabernet slowly and evenly at our site – building depth without sacrificing balance.

Finally, we rounded out the blend with 6% Cabernet Franc to add just a little brightness and freshness to balance out the decadence of the Cabernet Sauvignon The strategically selected barrels we used round out the palate and provide the length that makes this wine a pleasure whether you enjoy it now or in years to come.
