Assemblage:
Elévage: 21 mos in 50% new and 50% once-used French Oak
Vintage Notes : The 2016 vintage experienced a very warm spring and early onset of summer followed by a temperate fall season. The cooler temperatures in August and September slowed ripening and extended “hang time” to slow the maturity of the grapes. The result was the longest harvest on record in Washington State (mid-August through mid-November). Overall, 2016 saw very favorable growing conditions that produced wines with ripeness. balance and elegance.
Tasting Notes: This deep garnet colored wine smells of fresh raspberries, rosemary, chocolate, vanilla, tobacco, black pepper and violets. On the palate, the flavors of raspberry, cranberry, vanilla and some black pepper come through. The wine has pronounced flavor intensity and a long finish. It is good to drink now but also suitable for further aging due to its acidity and tannins.
