2022 Heritage Blend

Elévage: Fermented in stainless steel then barrel aged for 21 months in French oak from select cooperages.

Vintage Notes: 2022 was a rollercoaster growing year which fortunately ended on a high note. The spring was wet and chilly, marked by near record precipitation and below average temperatures. We suffered a freeze on April 7th which affected buds; this combined with the cold and wet weather led us to anticipate a small crop and pushed our ripening season back by a month. Starting in July, mother nature decided to cooperate, and we experienced perfect ripening weather through October. We also managed to avoid smoke from wildfires. Harvest was late and compressed which tested wine makers not on quality, because conditions were exceptional, but on style and space because varietals ripened in short succession. The exceptional flavor development, lower sugars and softer skins and tannins will make 2022 a vintage to remember.

Winemaker Notes: Our flagship Heritage Red Blend is a classic, right-bank Bordeaux blend that is Cabernet Sauvignon dominant. This vintage showcases harmony achieved through careful blending. Engage your senses with inviting notes of boysenberry, red plum, and cherry on the nose, complemented by the subtle interplay of baking spice and a hint of leather. The palate unfolds a symphony of black fruits, with black currant and amarena cherries taking center stage, while tinges of black tea and tobacco play a supporting role. The finish is soft and plush, enveloping the mouth with delicate tannins that leave a lasting impression. This wine is suitable to drink now and will age for 10 plus years.
