Assemblage: 100% Riesling from Lanie's Block
Wine Making: Slowly fermented in stainless steel sur lees. Fined & filtered before bottling.
Vintage Notes: 2021 was an unusual growing season in Washington, marked by a record-breaking heat which resulted in low yields. The most significant event impacting yield was the historic “heat dome” in late June which sent temperatures in Zillah to upwards of 112 degrees. Our vineyard fared well during this heat as we watered liberally in advance and throughout. The rest of the summer remained hot with “Grower Degree Days” averaging 8% more than 2015 which was considered one of the warmest years in recent memory. Temperatures did cool down allowing for extended ripening in September and October. This allowed for acids to hang on. Overall, the harvest was marked by low yields, with small berries and loose clusters, but excellent fruit quality.
Tasting Notes: This dry, white wine has bright aromatics of green apple and tropical fruits with a hint of brioche owing to its fermentation sur lees. The palate is clean and crisp with a great balance of sweetness and acidity, with tastes of lemon, peach and white pepper. It is the perfect example of Yakima Valley Riesling. It pairs well with food but delicious on its own. Drink it now or keep in the cellar.
Recommended Food Pairings:
- Spicy cuisines: Asian dishes, Indian curries, Mexican
- Seafood, in particular crab & scallops
- Pairs well with salad; including tangy flavors such as vinegar and cilantro; as well as hard cheeses like white cheddar
- For Dessert: Apple crumble or strudel, carrot cake, sweet pastries such as brioche, tropical fruits (i.e. pineapple)

Wine Panel - 2021 Dineen Vineyards Estate Riesling - 90 Points
It's hard to evaluate Riesling given its multitude of expressions. Some are bone dry and lean, and others sweet and tart and rich. It's hard to know what to expect or what style is the best? Especially when the label simply reads "Riesling." Having said that, this wine swings to the dry, lean, and zesty side, with a very light body and just a touch of fruit like pear and green apple. When served very cold it could be a refreshing first wine of the day on the patio during summer, or maybe served as a companion to some mildly spicy Asian dishes for your dinner. It has a bit of a lemon lime combo with a long finish. Only 100 cases produced. 90 Points in the $15-$25 Category – The Wine Panel
